‘Mexican Graphic Art' at Kunsthaus Zürich

Kunsthaus Zürich presents “Mexican Graphic Art,” which includes a collection donated to the Kunsthaus Zürich by the Swiss photographer Armin Haab. It comprises of works by 65 artists who were born or lived in Mexico. The exhibition presents selected pieces from this collection, centering on important prints produced in a variety of techniques from the late 19th century to the 1970s. In addition to prints by José Guadalupe Posada, there are characteristic realist works by Leopoldo Méndez, Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros as well as abstracts by Rufino Tamayo and Francisco Toledo.The Kunsthaus Zürich is an art museum in the Swiss city of Zürich. It houses one of the most important art collections in Switzerland. It was assembled over the years by the local art association called Zürcher Kunstgesellschaft. The collection spans from the middle ages to contemporary art, with an emphasis on Swiss art. The museum’s collection includes major works by artists including Claude Monet (several works including an enormous water lily painting), Edvard Munch, Pablo Picasso, Jacques Lipchitz and the Swiss Alberto Giacometti. Other Swiss artists such as Johann Heinrich Füssli, Ferdinand Hodler or from recent times, Pipilotti Rist and Peter Fischli are also represented.
