Whitestone Gallery presents their signature works and collections of GUTAI at the gallery’s Hong Kong venue.The Whitestone Gallery returns with their signature collections of GUTAI, which will be featured alongside with the artists from different period and cultural spheres. Some of these artists include Atsuko Tanaka, Shoji Mukai, Tsuyoshi Maekawa, AINE Kinashi, Yutaka Matsuda, Yang Yongliang, Sam Francis, Alexander Calder and Turi Simeti. Some of the renowned artists have already exhibited at the gallery before. Turi Simeti, the member from Zero Movement; Sam Francis, from American Abstract Expressionism; Alexander Calder, prominent American sculptor known as the originator of the mobile; and Yang Yongliang, Chinese Contemporary artist, showcasing his works from early 2010’s will be a part of the exhibit. Founded in 1967 in the heart of Tokyo, Whitestone Gallery is one of the pioneering galleries in Japan. The gallery presents works of significance by modern and contemporary Japanese artists and estates including members of Gutai Art Association. With the opening of the Karuizawa New Art Museum in 2012, the gallery saw an exciting new development. Designed by renowned Japanese architect Rikuo Nishimori, the museum is used for a series of innovative Japanese Modern and Contemporary Art exhibitions, as well as public programs and educational activities. In 2015, the gallery`s first overseas operation opened in Hong Kong aiming to introduce roster of living Gutai artists and Contemporary Japanese artists to an international audience, and to create a dialogue of exchange between Japan and the rest of the world.The exhibition is on view through August 31, 2017 at Whitestone Gallery, 28/F, Global Trade Square, 21 Wong Chuk Hang Road, Hong Kong.
