One California hotel is offering a very sweet new deal – a 10-pound donut delivered straight to your room.
The JW Marriot Desert Springs Resort in Palm Desert, California, has created a new “DoNut Disturb” package, which will see a house-made, 10-pound donut – covered in sweet cream frosting and brightly coloured sprinkles – brought to your room for “the perfect photo opp or social selfie.” Clearly designed for the Instagram-obsessed, the $219 per night package includes a guest room, the donut made by the hotel’s pastry chef, and a $50 USD per night resort credit valid towards golf, spa or dining.
But, given the logistics of deep frying a 10-pound donut, it’s not quite the real thing, according to Foodbeast. The cartoonish donut is actually a cake that features layers of Tahitian vanilla cake, cream and raspberry jelly. If that’s not enough to start your sweet tooth aching, the donut actually comes with milkshakes you can dip your cake in.
The upscale hotel in Palm Desert is close to Palm Springs, a California resort area known for its many rich and famous residents, both past and current, and incredible mid-century modern architecture. As the hotel is seeming to target millennials with its newest package, it’s worth noting that the area is also close to two spots you’ve likely seen filling up your Instagram feed – the Coachella Valley and Pioneertown.
