Gaffa Gallery, Sydney presents “Tell Me I’m Still Here,” a solo exhibition of works by Sydney based artist Alejandra Sieder. Alejandra Sieder’s artworks are an exploration of consciousness and mental processes. Each work demonstrates a different operation of the mind, varying between dark and light. She is well known for her ability to deftly combine different art styles and media into exquisite works of beauty. From an early age on, Sieder has been focused on analyzing human behavior and has been fascinated by the theoretical limits of the human condition. The artist notes, “[You] might find yourself in a dark hole, but there is always light when one surrenders to this darkness. This action holds the possibility of transcendence.” Sieder finds her inspiration in the world around her. These could take any form or shapes, including the visual of some place, a printed word, a phrase heard, or even a person. Speaking of her artistic process, Sieder notes, “All the information my senses receive produces seeds that propel and create my magic.” Sieder wishes for the viewers to recognize themselves in the images and open up to the possibility of moving beyond resisting discomfort to a place of surrender.Alejandra Sieder is a Venezuelan-Spanish contemporary painter residing in Sydney. Sieder was selected as a finalist in the 2017 Contemporary Art Prize and was also selected to exhibit her work at the collective exhibition “Artist of Mosman 2088” at the Mosman Art Gallery.
