Do you ever just see a piece of clothing/accessory and think to yourself? I NEED THAT IN MY LIFE!!! That was me with this dress. I saw it on my friend Kelly’s blog and I was just like WHOA, WANT DAT. It’s the best. When I bought it, I didn’t have anywhere to wear it (I’ll typically only buy a fancy dress if I have an immediate upcoming occasion to wear it to), but I had to make an exception here as I couldn’t help myself. I needed it in my life. It took a bit of work to track down (I ended up snagging it on eBay but Saks and Net-a-Porter both have a few sizes left). It runs pretty true to size. I wasn’t sure whether to get a small or a medium and I went with a medium – I’m glad I did as it’s a little bit blousy and as I always say… you never want your sequins to be tight!!! Honestly, this dress just pure magic.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out my earrings, made by my friend Hart Hagerty. These are the perfect party earring. I’ve worn them so many times on the blog but they truly are just the greatest. I wear them with everything – jeans and a tee, formal dresses and everything in between!
Serendipitously, Trent and I were shooting the dress and we stumbled into The Williamsburg Hotel to take a quick break… and that’s when we spotted it: PERFECT backdrop! Also rather serendipitous: as I mentioned, I had nowhere to wear it but then ended up booking a last minute trip to Charleston and ended up wearing it to a fancy art party at The Gibbes Museum. My rainbow wardrobe is always perfectly at home in the South!
What was the last thing you bought that made you feel like that? (It had been a while for me!!)
I hope you guys had a good weekend. Mine felt long, which never happens! It’s a good thing… it means I didn’t overplan/overstuff my weekend, which I used to do when I was younger. I got in two yoga classes, had a delish brunch with my sister at Egg Shop, and went to the Cabana trade show on Saturday. In between I had a few naps, did a lot of reading, and got caught up on work. That’s the perfect sort of weekend in my book!
