Seen & Heard: Dueling Family Events This Sunday

••• “I think Treadwell Park (both Battery Park City and its UES locations) has closed,” emailed R. last night. “The phone message is outdated and leads to a voicemail not a host. Nothing on Google indicates it is, but it is impossible to get hold of either restaurant via phone (or order on Seamless/Grubhub).” I tried calling the Battery Park City one, and the phone line didn’t work at all. But when I walked by this morning, the door was cracked, lights were on, and a sandwich board outside promoted lunch. So I called Merchants Hospitality, which said it’s most definitely still open.

••• While visiting Twenty First Gallery, now open at 76 Franklin (stay tuned for the New Kid on the Block post), I was delighted to learn that the rear of the Tribeca Synagogue building is also curved, although it’s not super easy to tell from this photo.

••• What’s more, the gallery has a terrific view of the renovation/conversion of 51 White, where workers evidently uncovered magnificent arches. Note the curved metal beams. (The second photo is from the project’s website.)

••• Dueling family events this Sunday: Church Street School for Music and Art’s annual block party (more info and tickets available here) and the Children’s Museum of the Arts’s Family Day (tickets here) and free Kids Fair.

••• Port Authority press release: “PATH stations at Exchange Place and the World Trade Center will close at 11:59 p.m. this Friday, May 18, and remain closed until 5 a.m. Monday, May 21, to allow crews to test equipment and software as part of the federally mandated Positive Train Control installation. […] Exchange Place and WTC stations will be closed again the weekend of July 7 for PTC work.”

••• From Battery Dance: “This Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., Rag & Bone in Tribeca is discounting men’s and women’s garments by 15% and donating 15% of all sales to Battery Dance.” Huh. I thought this was a mistake—the Rag & Bone store on W. Broadway opened as a menswear-only store—but evidently it now sells women’s clothing, too….

••• “Billions” is shooting in the Reade/W. Broadway area tomorrow. It definitely feels like time the producers gave something back to this community for all of the shoots. A nice donation to Friends of Bogardus Plaza, for instance….
