Korean Church on 48th Avenue in Woodside To Be Demolished
June 4, 2018 By Nathaly Pesantez
A Woodside church will be facing the wrecking ball.
Permits filed on June 1 show plans to demolish the New York Korean Church of the Nazarene, located at 45-05 48th Ave.
The church has been in Woodside since 2003, when the New York District of the Church of Nazarene purchased the property for $200,000. The church underwent facade work some time after 2013, and includes a small parking lot.
The St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church, next to the site, is not part of the property.
City records also show that the property was purchased by Nash Properties for $2.3 million on May 22. The developer is behind several small mixed used projects in Astoria, Elmhurst, and beyond.
The developer was not available to answer questions on what will be built on the site when reached via telephone.
The church’s listed phone number has since been disconnected, and the Metro New York District Church of the Nazarene, which oversees Church of Nazarene locations in the area, did not immediately respond to questions on why the property was sold.
