Police say a person wearing a Halloween mask shot two people around 2 a.m. in upper Manhattan today. The victims are currently in stable condition.

According to the NYPD, the shooting occurred near West 163rd Street and Broadway in Washington Heights. A 17-year-old girl was shot in the abdomen and taken to Harlem Hospital. A 21-year-old man was shot in three times (in the leg, chest, and groin) and taken to New York Presbyterian.

A friend of the male victim told PIX 11 he had left just before the shooting, “I heard the six shots. Came down running. The girl was laying down with a lot of blood. My friend was laying down, shot in the leg.”

While some reports suggest the gunman was wearing a “Michael Myers”-style mask, police sources tell Gothamist the gunman may have been wearing a white mask from the movie “Scream.” The shooter was also apparently wearing a green hoodie.

WCBS 2 reports that a dispute may have led up to the shooting.
