Disneyland hikes its prices before new Star Wars attraction opens

Star Wars fans, are you planning a trip to Disneyland in California ahead of the opening of its new themed attraction later this year? If so, you will need to factor into the budget that the resort has upped its admission prices.

Disney-lovers are not thrilled at the news that some ticket prices have raised by up to 25%, meaning that even the cheapest tickets now cost over US$100 (€87). Off-peak daily tickets for one park now begin at US$104 (€90), regular daily tickets at US$129 (€112) and peak-demand daily tickets at US$149 (€129). Prices for multi-day tickets and annual passes have also risen, and daily parking prices have gone from US$20 (€17) to US$25 (€21).

According to Disney, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland is going to be one of the most detailed and immersive lands ever created in Disney Parks history. The new themed areas will open later this year, bringing visitors right into attractions centred on the hit film franchise.

They will take guests to the planet of Batuu, “a remote outpost on the galaxy’s edge that was once a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade routes.” There they can visit attractions that will let them take control of the Millennium Falcon and even head into a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.

Given the high levels of anticipation that surround the forthcoming new attraction – and there will be a new Star Wars-themed resort at Walt Disney World in Florida too – it is unlikely that the latest price hikes will dampen visitors’ enthusiasm for the “happiest place on earth.”
