This year, things are about to get a lot more rainbow at Disneyland Paris during Pride Month. And that’s because the European Disney Park is gearing up to host its first ever official Pride event, with a special parade included.
Magical Pride started in 2014 as the initiative of UK-based Greatdays Holidays group. A spokesperson of Greatdays Holidays told Lonely Planet that the event was inspired by the unofficial Gay Days at the Disneyland Resort in California and at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, which have been happening for some time now.
What makes Magical Pride 2019 unique, though, is that this year the event is officially endorsed by the Disney Park and it has its own spot in its calendar. “We think it’s fantastic for a company as iconic as Disney to now be supporting and hosting such an event, welcoming the LGBT community to celebrate diversity in the place where dreams come true” continued the Greatdays Holiday spokesperson.
Magical Pride 2019 will take place on 1 June. The park will be privatised for a special party from 8 pm to 2 am, which will include the chance to experience selected attractions, meet and greets with Disney characters, themed photo opportunities and the Magical March of Diversity Parade, which is sure to help celebrate the start of Pride Month with a good amount of trademark Disney spirit.
Packages for the event are already available, starting from £259 (€296) for a group of four adults.
