Seen & Heard: A unicorn hangs on Hudson
WONDER ON HUDSON
K. sent this amazing picture of a real-live unicorn hanging on Hudson in the midst of the tunnel traffic. We are presuming for the opening of The Wonder?? Either way, it’s, you know, a unicorn!
VINEYARD VINES POPS UP AT BROOKFIELD
A (massive and a bit unsightly) pop-up opens today at Brookfield — a beach-inspired event to celebrate the launch of Vineyard Vines for Target. There will be a series of beachy family-friendly activities and a pop-up shop so you can browse the collection before it launches on May 18. Tell all your suburban friends! (Big thanks to J. for the heads-up and N. for the snaps and sleuthing.)
NYCxDESIGN – a celebration of design downtown – starts today and runs through May 22 with tons of events, including art shows, lectures and tours. See the full list here; to follow are some highlights:
- AD Art Show will be playing on the screens at the Oculus through May 31.
- Zaha Hadid pop-up at the store 10 Corso Como.
- Talks and tours will cover the 9/11 memorial, the Woolworth Building, the zoning of Fidi, design and retail, the Water Street corridor and the Oculus.
Join experienced anglers for catch-and release fishing in the Hudson River on Saturday, May 10, from 10 to 1p. The day also features an art project, a nature walk and a family dance party with the kindie rock and reggae tunes of the Brooklyn based Father Goose.
BISO MAN STILL SINGING
And this missive from Robert Janz, whose painting continues to evolve on the phone booth (!) at Chambers and Greenwich. “Started painting on it [at Christmas]. Thought it would be postered over next day, but is still there (very strange). So I keep painting on it when no one is looking (I hope). Bisoman is singing “care for Mother Earth or die with her”. Now in Spring Biso is submerging in the foliage, still singing. Singing on……!”
