BTS And Their ARMY Storm SummerStage For ‘Good Morning America’ Performance: Gothamist

0 2

After waiting on a sidewalk for seven days (in unseasonably cold and very rainy weather), fans of the Korean pop band BTS were finally allowed into Central Park to see the group’s Good Morning America performance this morning.

Listen to the screams of fans—aka ARMY:

The NYPD even got into the act of hyping fans on their way into the park:

The police were also very concerned about fan safety:

BTS is in the middle of a tour—they were in Chicago last week and will be at MetLife Stadium later this week—as they continue their steady domination of America. They’ve tied a record with the Beatles (three number 1 albums in one year); a Billboard Award for Best Duo/Group; become the first K-pop group to present at the Grammys; performed on Saturday Night Live; etc. Now, they’ve kicked off GMA’s Summer Concert Series at SummerStage, with their songs “Boy with Luv” and “Fire.”

Many of the BTS ARMYs explained that they admired the group’s work ethic—apparently, BTS wasn’t a product of the major K-pop labels, which separates them from other K-pop groups (“Their style wasn’t like anyone else’s!” one fan said)—and their humility. They also pointed out how BTS maintains a very strong connection with fans, and they did talk on the show about how their hit “Boy with Luv” is a message to fans.

And those ARMYs helped make #BTSonGMA the number one trending hashtag on Twitter:

Next up: performing on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight.

And after that, BTS will be making NJ Transit very, very worried:
