Paul Rudolph’s iconic Milam Residence is for sale in Miami

One of Paul Rudolph’s best-known designs, the geometric Milam Residence, has hit the market in Miami following a top-to-toe restoration.

The Modernist house caused a stir in the 1960s when it was completed, thanks to its distinctive ‘cubist’ facade. Views across the Florida beachfront, as well as its two-acre site, are framed by concrete blocks across the five-bedroom Miami property, which is organised across several levels.

It has been well-preserved by the Milam family – descendants of the lawyer who originally commissioned Rudolph to design the house. They’ve completely restored the striking property, and have added a new retaining wall along the beach. Original features include a conversation pits, fireplaces, terrazzo and wood floors.

There’s no price tag on the property – although it was previously listed in 2017 for $4.7m – but the Paul Rudolph Foundation is handling queries about its sale.
