Justice for Junior: Men found guilty in Bronx bodega slaying of teen

THE BRONX — A jury verdict Friday means there is now some Justice for Junior nearly a year after the teen was brutally slain outside a Bronx bodega.

Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz (NYPD)

Five Trinitarios gang members of more than a dozen men arrested were convicted. Jonaiki Martinez Estrella, Manuel Rivera, Elvin Garcia, Jose Muniz and Antonio Rodriguez Hernandez Santiago, who were all convicted on charges of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, gang assault and conspiracy, now face jail time.

Deliberations in the trial began Thursday. A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled for the men convicted.

Another 10 men were arrested in connection with the teen’s June 20 death.

The teen was chased down by a group of alleged members of the Trinatrios gang. He hid in a bodega, but he was dragged out and attacked with knives and a machete.

Video shows the teen stumble back into the bodega. Workers directed him down the street to a hospital, but he collapsed before he could get medical help.

The men charged with first-degree murder in Lesandro “Junior” Guzman Feliz’s death are shown above. The teen was killed on June 20, 2018.

Junior was a member of the NYPD Explorers program and dreamed of a future as a police officer.

New Yorkers and people around the world demanded justice for the teen after his death.

The Bronx District Attorney and Junior’s parents will speak after the verdict is read.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
