Eight People Injured After Cab Crashes Into Midtown Westville
Eight people were injured on Thursday after a yellow cab driver jumped a curb on Ninth Avenue and slammed through the front of a Westville in Hell’s Kitchen.
The crash occurred at 12:30 p.m., according to police, just as the lunch hour was beginning at the restaurant chain. An employee at the location told Gothamist that “everyone is okay,” and said it was still unclear what happened.
@BrooklynSpoke I hope everyone is ok. Why are cars allowed to barrel down 9th Ave. at speeds that can endanger sidewalk crowds. Car culture in Midtown is insanity. #westville #NYC-DOT pic.twitter.com/4sj1ki0xWT
