In the News: Broadway/Canal corner will soon transform
CANAL STREET OFFICE BREAKING GROUND
A key Soho corner will soon be activated by developer Albert Laboz, who told Crain’s he will build a “boutique” office building at 419 Broadway (the northwest corner at Canal) as well as another site he has at 430 West Broadway, just south of Houston. (Crain’s called the Soho site “glitzy,” which is not the word that comes to my mind when I think of Broadway and Canal.) “Laboz, who operates the real estate investment firm United American Land with his two brothers, Jason and Jody, will start work on a roughly 40,000-square-foot office and retail property at 419 Broadway on the corner of Canal Street in the first quarter of next year. By the second quarter, he plans to begin raising a similar 45,000-square-foot building at 430 W. Broadway.”
Morris Adjmi has been hired to design both projects.
This will make a dramatic difference in the look and feel of that corner of the neighborhood.
