Man Fatally Struck By 4 Train, Child Injured At Bronx Subway Station
The FDNY says it responded at 8 a.m. and found two people on the tracks. An adult male was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other person was taken to Jacobi Medical Center with minor injuries. First responders also treated two subway passengers who jumped down to the tracks to help, an FDNY spokesperson said.
An NYPD spokesperson confirmed that the other injured person was a five-year-old girl. PIX 11 reports that the man was her father: “Authorities said the man jumped in front of an oncoming Manhattan-bound No. 4 train at the Kingsbridge Road station while holding his 5-year-old daughter… a photo provided to PIX11 News shows her alert and seemingly crying while being held by an FDNY official at the scene.”
Subway service along the 4 has had delays this morning following the incident:
4 service is suspended between Woodlawn and Burnside Av while NYPD conduct an investigation after someone was struck by a train at Kingsbridge Rd. Expect delays.
