Greenpoint Hill

Greenpoint Hill (100 Freeman St) will close at the end of the month and is having a sale for the next two weekends.

All items and art will be 40 percent off on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. for the final two weekends in October. Store fixtures and furniture will also be for sale.

The art gallery and retail space opened in the winter of 2016 and features the works of local artists.

Plans are already underway for the Freeman Street space. The artist-run homeware shop Smallhome (87 Oak St) will relocate to 100 Freeman St. in November with “events and merriment” planned.

Artist and Greenpoint Hill owner Kim Brown said she will continue to support the local arts scene is happy to pass the space to her friend and fellow entrepreneur Julia Small, owner of Smallhome. Read Brown’s full statement:

Kim Brown, owner of Greenpoint Hill

“I am closing Greenpoint Hill at the end of the month after a wonderful three-year run engaging with the community. It was so wonderful to create a space that seemed to bring a smile to so many faces who entered during a very intensely emotional and charged time (we opened two weeks before the 2016 election).

I still truly believe in our mission of connecting local artists to the growing and changing community of people moving in to the condos and brownstones, and hope that I can continue to work with local business owners and leaders to curate and organize events even though I am giving up the physical space.

I plan to spend more time developing these new projects working with people I have met during the past few years running Greenpoint Hill, as well as committing a bit more time to my own studio practice, which often was sacrificed while running the space.

I am thrilled to pass the space on to Julia Small and Smallhome Brooklyn, another local female business owner who supports local makers. I know that this space I transformed from a dark loading dock to a light airy art space is in good hands.”
