Clic outpost to open on West Broadway

7

Taking over the former American Apparel space at 140 West Broadway is the newest outpost of Clic, the homegoods store owned by Calypso founder Christiane Celle. The shop, which has made the most of what really is a beautiful space but was hard to recognize as such behind the racks of spandex, opens Friday. On offer: the carefully curated eclectic mix of items that Celle is known for — African baskets, Moroccan rugs, French textiles and Indonesian coffee tables. The store will also feature Apiece Apart clothing.

Celle opened the first Clic at Centre and Broome in 2008 as a bookstore and gallery (during her three-year non-compete) and it evolved to include homegoods and apparel. She’s since added outlets in St. Barth, East Hampton, Marin and on Madison at 90th.

Calypso St. Barth was founded in 1992 by Celle and Antoine Verglas, and the pair sold in 2007 to private equity investment firm Solera Capital. The company then filed for bankruptcy for Calypso in 2017 and closed its 34 US boutiques (including ours, which was just across the street on West Broadway). More TK when they are up and running.
