Social Never Sleeps… And Neither Does New York City
We like to think of New York as our home-away-from-home at Dash Hudson. Not only does it rank amongst the most travelled cities in the world, but it’s also a frequent destination for our team to connect with some of our coolest brands.
The only problem with New York? It’s dense. With so many places to see, restaurants to try, and coffee and cocktails to sip — you’ll never feel like you have enough time. Luckily the subway will get you almost anywhere in Manhattan in about 30 minutes — unless you pull a Ross and ride the train to Montréal… in which case “it’s only a two-hour ferry ride to Nova Scotia.” We can only wish that Friends was right on this one — and if it was, you know the Dash Hudson fam would welcome you with open arms.
We rounded up our can’t-miss stops to simplify things for you when planning your next trip. We’ve broken the city down into some of our favorite neighbourhoods and our top spots to visit, so you can hop over without a thought, no matter the time of year.
When In Need of a Chocolate Fix, @mamannyc
There’s nothing better than a warm, gooey, chocolate chip cookie to remind you of home when you’ve been away for too long. It’s all in the name… reminding us of our mom’s chocolate chip cookies she’d whip up as an after school snack, but dare we say it, even better? We’re allowed to because Oprah agrees. This sweet spot is not only is at the top of our list, but it also graced Oprah’s Favorite Things list two years ago.
Need a break from your regular oat milk latte before you go into a caffeine overload? Blank Slate serves up a variety of teas, that don’t just taste good, but look beautiful too. If you’re in the mood for something colorful, we recommend the Rose Matcha Latte — the perfect centrepiece for your ‘Gram against their millennial pink walls, pink seats… and you guessed it, a pink tree for the holidays.
Whether you’re vacationing or in the city on business, chances are you’ll end up walking past Bryant Park at some point during your stay. Only a four-minute walk from Times Square, it’s the perfect spot to take a break from the hustle and bustle. Enjoy a café in the park during the summer months, or stroll the outdoor Christmas Market in November and December.
There’s more than meets the eye when it comes to ABC Kitchen’s locally sourced organic ingredients. Stop by earlier in the day for some of the best pancakes New York has to offer — gluten-free options and all!
A happy hour must. This hidden gem features a happy hour from 3–6:30pm every day of the work week (except for Monday when it’s 5:30pm-Close) where you can get a glass of wine for only $6 or a half-priced pitcher of sangria, which we are SO here for. Pair that with a side of their crispy fried chickpeas and we promise it’ll feel like it’s Fri-YAY every day.
Don’t be deceived upon walking into this space. The Alice in Wonderland vibes of the black and white grid hiding the door is part of the appeal. Start your evening upstairs with some light bites featuring street food from across the globe. We recommend trying the taquitos before you make your way downstairs to try one of their cocktails. Make your choice from one of their categories based on your mood of the day — bright, spiced, or spirited.
It’s All About the ‘Za, @rubirosa_nyc
When in need of a carb overload, Rubirosa Pizza & Ristorante has you covered. This Italian classic, located in the heart of trendy Nolita neighborhood is a can’t-miss to get your NYC pizza fix — and you might as well divulge in some homemade authentic carbonara and ravioli while you’re there. This cozy restaurant is ideal for a dinner date, pizza with the gals, or a family occasion.
Sleep, Eat + Capture Content in One Place, @thenomosoho
If you want to take NYC by storm, hang at NoMo SoHo. This influencer hotspot is filled with ‘Gram-worthy photo ops. From its views of the city’s famous skyline, a picturesque garden, and the ultimate Sunday brunch — the NoMo is always our number one choice to take in the beauty of the city while we get our beauty rest.
On the run and need a meal to get you through that afternoon of meetings or window shopping? We’ve got you covered. The Village Den does quick service for the big three: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Not to mention, we’re low-key obsessed with their turkey meatballs. Don’t forget to snag a picture with their mural wall or plant installation.
To fit all of our NYC recommendations into one travel guide is next to impossible, but we had to start somewhere. The city that never sleeps is filled with hidden gems in every neighborhood that are what make this city unlike any other. After frequent trips, we quickly had a go-to list within the Dash Hudson fam that deserved to be shared with the world. From swanky bars for the best cocktails and classic NYC pizza spots to the spots to get the ‘Gram — we’ve got the basics covered for you, and with no doubt, you’ll discover your own favs.
