Photos, Video: Showtime Dancers, Giant Nightmare Backpack Star In Subway Fashion Show

Moschino’s Jeremy Scott is the latest designer to bring the runway to the subway. This time, however, the show didn’t take over one of our “working” subway lines—instead, the brand’s Pre-Fall 2020 collection was trotted out on Monday night through the vintage subway cars at the Transit Museum in Brooklyn. According to Vogue, “negotiating the space was apparently a year in the process,” but it’s where Scott wanted to showcase the line. “The subway’s the quintessential New York backdrop,” he said at the show.

Attendees (including Kacey Musgraves, Amanda Lepore, and lots of people simply captioned as “guest”) got through the turnstile with a comedically oversized MetroCard (or rather, MaschinoCard), and while it was all delightfully maximalist and playful, there was also a nightmarishly large backpack that must never — and I mean NEVER — become a trend. The regular-sized ones are bad enough (just scroll through one woman’s documentation of her daily battle with these things).

Anyway, no, absolutely not.

In the below video you’ll see another nod to NYC‘s underground: Scott brought on some Showtime dancers, a delightful part of this city’s vast landscape (fight me).

New York is the city that never sleeps,” Scott noted, according to the NY Post. “With that in mind, I wanted to offer a little bit of everything. A round-the-clock set of ensembles for city girls and guys who aren’t afraid to go from the ballroom to the back room, then watch the sun come up over the East River.” Just never with an oversized backpack, please.
